VASCULAR TESTING

  • Carotid Doppler Ultrasound

A Carotid ultrasound shows the amount of blood flow in the carotid arteries, the major blood vessels to the brain located on either side of your neck. With this imaging technique, your doctor can see if there is any narrowing of your carotid arteries because of cholesterol deposits or some other problem. This test is often used to evaluate people who have had a stroke or who might be at high risk for one because of reduced blood flow in the carotid arteries.

  • Ankle Brachial Index

The ankle-brachial index test is a quick, noninvasive way to check your risk of peripheral artery disease (PAD). Peripheral artery disease is a condition in which the arteries in your legs or arms are narrowed or blocked. People with peripheral artery disease are at a high risk of heart attack, stroke, poor circulation and leg pain.

The ankle-brachial index test compares your blood pressure measured at your ankle with your blood pressure measured at your arm. A low ankle-brachial index number can indicate narrowing or blockage of the arteries in your legs, leading to circulatory problems, heart disease or stroke. The ankle-brachial index test is sometimes recommended as part of a series of three tests, including the carotid ultrasound and abdominal ultrasound, to check for blocked or narrowed arteries.

  • Arterial Duplex Ultrasound – Lower Extremity

Lower extremity arterial duplex is an ultrasound evaluation of the blood flow to the arteries in the legs and is used to detect and measure the amount of narrowing of the arteries.  If your legs are not getting enough blood flow, you could experience leg pain with walking or leg cramps when you are lying down, or in severe cases you could experience constant leg or foot pain.

  • Abdominal Aortic Duplex Ultrasound

This is a sonogram using to sound waves to visualize your aorta, the largest and main artery

in the body and all of the main arteries that are attached to the aorta.

  • Venous Duplex Ultrasound

To aid in the diagnosis of venous abnormalities such as a suspected blood clot in a deep vein of the leg (deep vein thrombosis); impaired blood flow which can lead to problems such as leg discomfort, heaviness, swelling of feet, varicosities, pigmentation of skin and even ulcers.

  •  Radio frequency Ablation Therapy for chronic venous insufficiency

Chronic venous insufficiency causes lower extremity discomfort, heaviness, swelling, varicosities and ultimately non healing ulcers. Using this office procedure we can easily and safely treat this condition early before it causes problems.
